And Everything."},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p>A\u00a0<a title=\"landlessness on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/landlessness\">friend<\/a>\u00a0of mine was visiting from Detroit. \u00a0While we enjoyed the beautiful California weather, the subject of books arose. \u00a0After comparing notes on the fantastic things we had recently read and talked about current reads, the Other Brian suggested that we choose something to read together.<\/p>\n<p>I selected Karl Ove Knausgaard\u2019s memoir. \u00a0Well, the first volume of this massive tome, My Struggle: Book 1. \u00a0Literary circles have certainly been buzzing about this book, literary experiment, literary revolution, tedious rambling, or whatever it is. \u00a0It was on my list of books to check out, but it wasn\u2019t at the top of the list.<\/p>\n<p>A few podcasts mentioned the book last week. \u00a0It came back to my attention. \u00a0So I grabbed the Kindle sample and read it. \u00a0Proust. \u00a0The word kept floating across my consciousness as I read the sample. \u00a0This feels like Proust. \u00a0Perhaps a bit sharper. \u00a0I couldn\u2019t put it down. \u00a0I wanted more. \u00a0In my brief reading sessions yesterday, I must have highlighted five or six passages.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s still early. \u00a0The book could fizzle out, veer off in a different direction. \u00a0But, if the current trajectory holds, it\u2019s going to be a great read. \u00a0I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll post more on this later.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0friend\u00a0of mine was visiting from Detroit. \u00a0While we enjoyed the beautiful California weather, the subject of books arose. \u00a0After comparing notes on the fantastic things we had recently read and talked about current reads, the Other Brian suggested that we choose something to read together.
